Is ZOOM whitening safe? 
Absolutely! Zoom whitening products have carefully selected ingredients that when administered professionally or at home, cause little to no harm to your teeth. 
Both in office and take home gels have a pH booster, meaning it's completely safe for your teeth. All gels contain amorphous calcium phosphate (ACP), sodium fluoride and potassium nitrate to help remineralize and desensitize the teeth during the bleaching process..Zoom's whitening gel is also the only professional teeth whitening solution that uses ACP (amorphous calcium phosphate) as one of its main ingredients. ACP has been clinically proven to decrease tooth sensitivity, protect your enamel, and even improve the brightness and smoothness of your teeth's surface.

Will whitening cause sensitivity?
Philips zoom whitening is formulated in a way that does not cause tooth sensitivity, however, it is possible that a slight amount of tooth sensitivity may occur. If any sensitivity occurs, there's no need to worry as it is only temporary and will resolve within a few hours usually.
This is why sensitivity isn't an issue:

1. The formulation of the gel contains ingredients that prevent sensitivity
2. All whitening packages come with a desensitizer gel to use if you experience sensitivity 
3. We recommend the use of a certain sensitivity toothpaste* throughout the whitening process to further prevent your teeth from becoming sensitiv

Are the results permanent?
YES, provided you do maintenance at home or with your dentist. The frequency would depend on how easily your teeth become stained, but as little as 15 - 30 minutes at home every month or few months may be all that's necessary to maintain the brightness and whiteness of your teeth. The best part about having a home kit is that you can whiten your teeth whenever and however often you require or wish. If you don’t feel like doing at-home maintenance, you can simply book a single 15 minute in-chair session every 6 months - 2 years.

There are many causes of tooth discolouration. Some of the most common include the consumption of highly coloured foods and drinks such as red wine, coffee and tea. Some medication, ageing, smoking and trauma can also cause tooth discolouration.

How white will my teeth become? 
With the Philips zoom system, your teeth can whiten as much as you wish. After your bleaching process is complete, if you are still unhappy or wish to whiten your teeth even further, you simply need to do a few more at home or in chair sessions. Have a look at some of the results in the pictures below. It's important to remember though that everyone's teeth bleach differently! 

How long will I need to whiten my teeth for? 
On average, the process can take anywhere from one day to 8 weeks or more, depending on which package you opt for, what your dentist/hygienist recommends, and how white you wish your teeth to be. 

Can I whiten my teeth if I have fillings, crowns/veneers or dentures? 
Yes, but, the bleaching gel only works on natural teeth. Fillings, veneers/crowns or dentures will only affect your results if they are visible when you smile. If you have fillings, you may need to replace or resurface them once the whitening process is over and you’ve reached the level of whiteness you're happy with. The same goes with veneers, crowns, and dentures - it would be best to replace them with new ones that match the colour of your new, whiter teeth. 

What is the process like? 
There are 2 types of bleaching - bleaching done in the chair with a dentist or oral hygienist, and bleaching done at home. Every package that we offer comes with a home kit as well, to increase the longevity of the result and enable easy and affordable maintenance at home. The in chair bleach is done using a stronger gel that gives rapid results, and the home bleach is a milder one that is a lot safer and easier to use for patients unsupervised.

THE PROCESS

Before doing any bleaching, We always do a consultation before deciding on whitening, where one of our oral hygienists will assess your current tooth shade and recommend a package based on your needs and expectations. If you do decide to go ahead with bleaching, moulds of your mouth will be taken so we can make your custom bleaching trays for home use 
We also recommend having a cleaning done before starting your whitening journey

IN CHAIR BLEACHING 
This is what a typical 15 minute in-chair session would be like

• Your teeth are cleaned and flossed to remove any visible plaque 
• The oral hygienist will record your tooth shade and take pics if necessary 
• A cheek retractor will be applied and you will be given protective eyewear
• Your gums and sensitive areas will be covered with cotton roll, gauze and a special liquid 
• The gel is applied to all visible teeth in your smile 
• The special ZOOM LED light is turned on and placed over your teeth, and left on for 15 minutes, enhancing the action of the bleach 
• The gel is then removed and the excess cleaned up 
• If you are doing a second session, fresh gel will be applied and process repeated 
• The cotton rolls, gauze, liquid gum protector and cheek retractor are gently removed 
• You will receive your home bleaching kit along with clear instructions
• Voila! Enjoy your radiant new smile

AT HOME BLEACHING
This is how you would typically bleach your teeth at home using your custom home kit:

• Brush your teeth using the recommended sensitivity toothpaste and floss 
• Apply a small amount of bleach into each tooth of the bleaching tray 
• Gently fit the tray over your teeth and wipe away any excess gel that extrudes out of the tray
• Leave it on for 15-30 minutes, depending on the percentage of bleach you have 
• Remove tray, rinse away all gel and clean your bleaching tray 
• Repeat over a number of days directed by your oral hygienist or dentist

THE PACKAGES WE OFFER AT KDC: 
(bear in mind these are just the standard packages, we can customize these as needed) 
You may choose between 1 to a maximum of 4, in-chair sessions/cycles using the LED light. Each session/cycle is 15 minutes long. Each package includes a take-home kit as well. The more sessions you do in-chair, the less you will bleach on your own at home. Every option yields the same result, the only difference is the time it will take. 
You can purchase the home bleach syringes at a very affordable rate as you require!

1. DIY take-home kit 

This package comprises of a custom set of bleaching trays and 8 weeks worth of bleaching gel to do on your own at home. 
Appointments: you will need an initial 15 minute consult, and thereafter two 15 minute appointments at the start and end of the entire process. 

• One in-chair session & six bleach syringes 

This package comprises of one 15 minute bleaching session with the ZOOM LED light, and 6 weeks worth of bleaching gel to do on your own at home. 
Appointments: you will need an initial 15 minute consult, a 45 minute appointment for the in-chair process and a 15 minute appointment at the end of the process. 

• Two in-chair sessions & four bleach syringes 

This package comprises of two 15 minute bleaching sessions with the ZOOM LED light, and 4 weeks worth of bleaching gel to do on your own at home. 
Appointments: you will need an initial 15 minute consult, a 60 minute appointment for the in-chair process and a 15 minute appointment at the end of the process. 

• Three in-chair sessions & three bleach syringes 

This package comprises of three 15 minute bleaching sessions with the ZOOM LED light, and 3 weeks worth of bleaching gel to do on your own at home. 
Appointments: you will need an initial 15 minute consult, a 60 minute appointment for the first in-chair process (first 2 sessions), a second appointment of 45 minute a week later for the second in-chair process (3rd session), and a 15 minute appointment at the end of the process. 

• Four in-chair sessions & two bleach syringes 

This package comprises of four 15 minute bleaching session with the ZOOM LED light, and 2 weeks worth of bleaching gel to do on your own at home. 
Appointments: you will need an initial 15 minute consult, a 60 minute appointment for the first in-chair process (1st & 2nd session), a second appointment of 60 minute a week later for the second in-chair process (3rd & 4th session), and a 15 minute appointment at the end of the process. 

Will the whitening procedure be uncomfortable? 
simply put - no. We will ensure you are perfectly comfortable throughout the process! You will still be able to breathe and swallow as per normal. If you do experience some sensitivity, the light can be paused and resumed once you are comfortable again.
