Dr Nazier Natha B.Ch.D (UWC)

Dr  Natha graduated from the University of the Western Cape in 2004 and then completed his community service in Middelburg, Mpumalanga. He has since worked in upmarket, highly reputable private practices in areas such as the Foreshore, V&A Waterfront and Three Anchor Bay where he worked alongside highly experienced dentists and treated both local and foreign patients from all over the world. He also owned his own practice in Camps Bay in 2012 and joined the Kromboom Dental team in 2013. He has always been very interested in the variety of General Dentistry and enjoys seeing patients from the very young to the more senior citizens but his main focus is in the fields of Cosmetic (Aesthetic) dentistry, Crowns and Bridges, Endodontics (Root Canal Treatment) and minor Oral Surgery (wisdom teeth). He is also responsible for seeing the after hour emergency patients at Kromboom Dental and is on call 24 hours a day.

With his friendly and open approach, Dr Natha found he was having many nervous patients referred to him and helps make visiting the dentist a positive experience. His commitment to his patients and never ending endeavours  toward excellence and integrity has contributed to his success. Dr  Natha loves helping people, and treats every patient with kindness, respect, and appreciation. He believes that each person is unique, and strives to understand the needs of each patient in order to fulfil their dental need with compassion, quality care and artistry.

In pursuit of excellence, Dr  Natha is constantly expanding his knowledge base and keeping up to date by attending numerous professional development training days in Cosmetics, Crown and Bridge and Endodontics (Root Canal Treatment). He aims to provide a high standard of dentistry in a friendly and comfortable environment and views communication and education with patients a high priority. With years of experience and a light hearted approach, Dr Natha makes visiting the dentist an enjoyable and fulfilling experience.

In 2020, after being  an integral part of  the team, Dr Natha became the proud new owner of the practice that many patients have come to love and trust.

Dr Shahnaz Khan B.Ch.D (UWC)

Dr  Khan qualified at the University of the Western Cape in 1995. After graduating from university, she went to live and work as a Dentist in Norfolk, England.

Whilst in the UK, she completed a yearlong implant course and advanced restorative courses in cosmetic dentistry headed by some of the most internationally renowned dentists including Dr Hilt Tatum (Dental Implant Pioneer), Dr Stuart Orton-Jones (International lecturer on Quality Dentistry).

In 2002 she returned to Cape Town and took over Kromboom Dental Centre. She has worked and trained to build a practice that meets and exceeds your expectations of trusted, personalized dental care. She focuses on bringing her patients only the best that dentistry has to offer by keeping herself and her staff informed on the latest advances and techniques in dentistry.

Dr Khan has been a dentist for many years and is passionate about holistic and integrative aspect. She has seen many patients who mouth breathe, have crooked teeth, tongue thrusts, and overactive facial muscles. It wasn’t until she was introduced to Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy that she learned  that these weren’t due to “just genetics,” but that it was improper, unconscious habits that were creating these unfavourable traits. This led her to the field of Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy. She pursued many courses related to this topic in the quest to find answers to her own kids dental and orthodontic issues. She is a certified Orofacial Myofunctional Therapist and Myobrace provider. Since then,  she has been helping patients through proactive techniques that help develop and maintain correct resting tongue posture, nasal breathing, lip seal, and a correct swallowing pattern.

The introduction of Myobrace into her practice has become a game changer as it results in straighter teeth and improved function leading to optimal facial development and a healthier smile and overall healthier child. Since she is passionate about prevention, this added to her armamentarium to prevent future oral, orthodontic and overall health issues. Her aim is to get all of her patients nose breathing and all her young patients on the path to normal facial growth and development with little or no need for braces.

Her practice philosophy is to provide quality dentistry in a caring, respectful, efficient, and professional manner. She practices comprehensive dentistry by creating a direction for each patient based on his or her needs. Dr Khan loves  learning and enjoys taking business, communication and marketing courses. She truly loves being able to help people, whether it is through helping them obtain beautiful and healthy smiles or being able to relieve their dental pain. She also being able to show patients that the dentist isn't someone that they have to fear, and feels great when patients come to KDC with a smile! She enjoys all aspects of dentistry and takes great joy in her profession.

In 2020, after the Covid-19 pandemic she decided pass on Kromboom Dental Centre’s torch to Dr Natha. Although she no longer owns KDC, she is still an integral part in the marketing and holistic side of the practice and heads the Kromboom Dental Centre Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy and Airway Clinic.  

Dr Samantha Jones B.Ch.D (Stell)

Dr. Jones qualified at the University of Stellenbosch in 2003 and then did her community service at Delft Day Hospital.

After practicing in a general practice in the Northern Suburbs, she joined the Kromboom Dental Team. Dr.Jones is good with patients of a nervous disposition; her interests are in working with children and providing endodontic treatment and she frequently updates her knowledge in this area. Dr. Jones will impress you with her friendly demeaner, confidence, and ability.

She is well-versed in treating patients with complex dental problems as well as those patients who suffer from Dental Phobia. Dr. Jones puts her patients at ease with her gentle confidence and provides them with the highest level of care, respect, and efficiency. She listens to her patients concerns and needs and is sensitive to each patient's individual requests.

Dr. Aneesa Mohamed B.Ch.D PDD Endodontics (UWC)

Dr Aneesa Mohamed is a graduate of the University of the Western Cape, Class of 2004. After completing her community service in Mafikeng, she served as a clinical supervisor in the Radiology Department at UWC and was a service rendering dentist at the Mitchell's Plain and Tygerberg Oral Health Centres.

In 2006, she became a full time associate at a private practice in the Southern Suburbs and joined the Kromboom Dental Team in 2011.

She has completed a post-graduate diploma in Endodontics (Root Canal Treatment) at the University of the Western Cape. Her focus is in the field of endodontics as well as restorative and aesthetic dentistry but still provides all the essential basic and preventative care. She builds confidence in her patients by explaining all of their treatment options and helping them select the most appropriate treatment to suit their needs. Her goal is to provide the highest level of care and help patients keep healthy, beautiful smiles for a lifetime.

Dr. Farahnaz Parker B.Ch.D (UWC)

Dr Farahnaz Parker's dental education was completed at the University of the Western Cape in 2008. After completing her Community Service in KZN, she worked in high end practices in Uhmlanga, KZN and returned to Cape Town in January 2012.

Since then, Dr. Parker has been enhancing her skills in various practices in Cape Town. She enjoys general dentistry and endodontics (root canal treatment). Her true passion however lies within treating children. Using play therapy and other various techniques, Dr Parker strives to make dental visits a fun, pleasant experience. She also enjoys the challenge of helping anxious patients overcome their dental phobias and fears and believes that everyone deserves to have a beautiful smile and healthy mouth.

In 2014, she joined the Kromboom Dental team. Her passion and skill lies in providing comprehensive dental care in a relaxed, and comfortable environment. She provides dental care at the highest level with genuine caring and kindness.

Dr Abdul-Basit Booley BChD (UWC)  PDD Orthodontics (UWC) MSc Orthodontics (U Warwick UK)  MSc Dental Lasers (UniGe Italy)  Dip Arabic (Bayyinah USA)   PDD Implantology (UWC)

Dr. Abdul-Basit Booley graduated from the University of the Western Cape in 1991. He then ran his own practice until 2004 after which he relocated to the UK where he worked in a mixed NHS / Private Practice until 2007 while doing a masters in Orthodontics. He obtained his masters in Orthodontics (with distinction) at  Warwick University(UK) in 2010 and held  the position of Honorary Clinical Teaching Fellow in Orthodontics at Warwick University till 2016. 

In 2012, Dr. Booley  became an associate fellow at the World Class Laser Institute and completed a Masters in Laser Dentistry in 2014 at the University of Genoa (Italy). He was the first South Africa dentist to achieve a masters in Laser Dentistry.

In 2015, he relocated to his home town and in the process of obtained a post graduate diploma in Implantology at the University of the Western Cape. Dr. Booley joined the Kromboom Dental team in 2015 as their resident dentist with a special interest in Orthodontics and Laser Dentistry. Since 2016 he is a Dental Laser consultant at the University of the Western Cape, involved in research.

Along with a deep compassion for his patients, he strives to offer patients solutions to their dental needs while bringing professionalism, care and comfort to the practice.

He values the opportunity to help patients change their smiles through orthodontic treatments.

Dr. Feheem Bhamjee BChD (UWC) ; PDD implantology (UWC) ; PDD oral surgery (Pretoria); McHD Oral medicine and periodontology

Dr. Bhamjee is a graduate from the University of the Western Cape and completed his undergraduate dental studies in 2007. His community service was completed thereafter in Zeerust in 2008. He then entered the world of private practice in Johannesburg while completing his postgraduate diploma in oral implantology in 2009 and the prestigious colleges of medicine primary examinations in 2010. 

In his pursuit for surgical excellence he then volunteered within the Maxillo-Facial surgical unit at Chris Hani Baragwanath hospital and obtained another postgraduate diploma in oral surgery with the University of Pretoria in 2011. After a few more years in private practice and obtaining various certifications via the trauma surgical unit at the university of Witwatersrand , Dr Bhamjee grasped the opportunity to specialize and excel within the department of Oral medicine  and Periodontology department at the UWC Dental Faculty graduating in 2018.
During his postgraduate studies he assisted in lecturing and teaching both undergraduate and postgraduate students within the fields of implantology,  periodontics and oral medicine.

Dr. Bhamjee is 'passionate about perio' and the aesthetic relationships between our gums and teeth. His training in regenerative periodontal surgery , periodontal plastic surgery and dental implant therapy is based upon the most current scientific evidence to ensure that his patients receive world class treatment.

In 2020, Dr Bhamjee started his own practice in Century City call Matrix Dental Specialists but he still consults at Kromboom Dental Centre on a part time basis

Dr Ridhwaan Haffajee B.Ch.D (UWC), PDD Implantology (UWC) M.Ch.D Prostho (UWC)

Dr Haffajee originally hails from  Durban and relocated to Cape Town in 2007 to commence his undergraduate dental training. It was during his 4th year (of a five year degree) at the University of the Western Cape that he knew restorative dentistry was to be  his destiny and it was a given that perusing the speciality of Prosthodontics would afford him the capacity to fulfil his ultimate passion  - giving back in a way no other could his field – correcting the negative psychosocial effects of lack in oral dento-facial confidence.

Upon graduation as a dentist (2011),  he remained in Cape Town as having a close relationship with the University would nurture his clinical an academic acumen – this culminated in being awarded a Post-graduate diploma in Dentistry (Implantology)  in 2013. He was accepted into the full time registrar/residency program in Prosthodontics in 2015, and sat his final examinations in November 2019.

These proved to be the most challenging but rewarding years of his training as being a full time student for 5 years and having engaged in rigorous assessments clinically, academically and with a strong research component.

His scope of practice  also covers clinical situations that require reconstructions (Dento-Facial areas) post-cancer and post-trauma. This type of dental specialist is trained to deal with complicated and simple restorations of the whole mouth as well as treating facial deformities. Common procedures treated by a prosthodontist may include dentures, partial dentures, fixed bridges, crowns, implants, veneers and more. In addition to the above, his speciality is to also manage and treat pain and discomfort relating to endodontics/root canal problems, 'bite' or occlusal problems (worn dentition) and Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) disorders. Wherever necessary, he works together with a dentist and/other dental specialists (Orthodontists, Periodontists, Maxillo-Facial and Oral Surgeons, Orofacial Myofunctional Therapists) to provide patients with the optimal cosmetic and functional result.

Not only is a successful outcome important to him, but he takes pride in implementing a treatment plan that offers longevity and maintenance based on sounds academic and researched principles. It is for this reason he takes on the role of almost being a the "Project Manager" or "Architect" for your total dental treatment. He will co-ordinate treatment procedures and sequences, between your dental team and where necessary your medical team. He strives to provide gentle, expert dental care for each of his patients. All care is taken to main vitality and health of all of your teeth and many factors will be considered before he chooses to undertake root canal treatment or extractions.

These will be discussed with you in detail during your consultation. He creates a comfortable environment and carefully listens to patients’ concerns before commencing treatment. Each patient treatment is unique and customized to the patients’ needs and desires. The smallest details are discussed with the patient to provide the ultimate level of satisfaction

Dr Haffajee has his own specialist practice, Matrix Dental in Century City, but continues to consult part time at Kromboom Dental Centre.

Dr Sanjay Ranchod BChD (Stell), PGDipl Oral Surg (Cum Laude)(UWC), MChD MFOS (Cum Laude) (UWC), FCMFOS (SA), AOCMF Fellowship (Ulm, Germany)

Dr Ranchod has joined Life Kingsbury Hospital as a specialist in maxillofacial and oral surgery (MFOS). 

He completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Stellenbosch in 2003 and attained numerous first prize merit awards. After completing his community service in Knysna in 2004, he joined the UWC, Faculty of Dentistry as a part-time clinical lecturer in the Department of Restorative Dentistry. In this role, he was involved with undergraduate trainingbetween 2005 and 2008. 

During the same period, he was a locum in a prosthodontic private practice where he gained valuable experience in restorative dentistry. Following his passion for orofacial surgery, he completed a post-graduate diploma in oral surgery in 2007 (Cum Laude). 

Being presented with the opportunity to broaden his scope, he made a move to the UK in 2008 to join a private practice. After returning to Cape Town in 2010, he once again took up a role at UWC, Faculty of Dentistry in the Departments of Restorative Dentistry and MFOS. After gaining valuable experience both at home and abroad, he joined the Kromboom Dental Team. Sanjay also assisted numerous MFO surgeons in their private capacity during this time. 

In 2015, Sanjay began his Master’s degree in MFOS, attaining it Cum Laude in 2019. In the same year, he obtained the FCMFOS(SA) with the Colleges of Medicine. In the early part of 2020, he spent 2 months in Ulm, Germany after which he was awarded the prestigious AOCMF Fellowship. He gained valuable insight into fully-guided, digitally-planned dental implant surgery as well as the application of patient specific implants (PSI’s) for trauma-related injuries and facial reconstruction. His special interests include facial trauma reconstruction, implantology, orthognathic surgery and TMJ surgery. He has his own private practice in Claremont but continues to consult part time at Kromboom Dental Centre.

His other interests outside the workplace include football, hiking, swimming and he has a special interest in the history of ancient civilisations.

Dr. Igsaan Khan B.Ch.D (UWC) D.I.H Homeopathy Detoxification Specialist

Dr. Khan graduated from the University of the Western Cape in 1979 where he practiced in private practice until he relocated to Bristol in the UK in 1991 where he practiced and did many courses related to the non surgical treatment of the TMJ and holistic dentistry. He has a special interest in the Dental / Whole Body connection. He uses splint therapies and orthodontics in his non surgical treatments of the TMJ and also uses homeopathy and nutrition to benefit his patients’ recovery.

In recent years Igsaan has worked with Chiropracters and Ostepaths highlighting the relationship between dentistry and the whole body. Igsaan also has experience in treating children non surgically with Facial Jaw orthopaedics which covers the lower jaw and improving the size and position of the upper jaw. His holistic approach to dentistry involves dental homeopathy in treatment of patients suffering with dental pain and anxiety as well as his practice of mercury free dentistry.

Through his studies and research he has gained an indepth understanding of the impact of toxic metals on the immune system. With his expertise in the holistic side of dentistry, Igsaan is a valuable addition to the KDC Team.

Dr Amanda Shih B.Ch. (UWC)

Dr Amanda Shih obtained her dental qualification at the University of Western Cape in 2015. She completed her community service at Pelonomi Hospital in Bloemfontein and then returned to Cape Town. She has since been working in the private sector in Cape Town.

With a particular interest in restorative and cosmetic dental treatment as well as general and preventative dentistry, Dr Shih enjoys working with people, especially patients who are anxious to be in the dental chair. She takes pride in finding ways to make visits to the dentist a rewarding experience.

Dr Shih is excited to grow her clinical knowledge and utilising the latest technological advanced in dentistry to help restore the confidence in patients’ smiles. She is fluent in English, Afrikaans and Mandarin.

Dr. Taariq Parker B.Ch.D (UWC) PDD Implantology (UWC)

Dr Taariq Parker, graduated from The university of the Western Cape in 2007. He the then completed his community service in 2008, at the Port Elizabeth military base. He has since been working in a diverse clinical practices around Cape Town.

He has interest in the academics, and has completed his post graduate diploma in implant dentistry in 2008, during his community service and diploma in minor oral surgery in 2015. His focus has been to enhance his skill and knowledge in this particular discipline of dentistry, where has given specific attention to surgical removal of wisdom teeth. He is also a clinical supervisor to undergraduate students at the university of the western cape, in the oral surgery and maxillofacial department, where hopes to continue broaden his knowledge.

He hopes to encourage his patients to have a positive outlook on their oral health, and not to devalue its value in term of complete health and well being. He hopes to bring his patients not only comfort and function, but also confidence, brought about by a good, healthy mouth.

Dr. Grant Pieterse B. SC (Stell) HDE (Stell) B.Ed (Stell) B. Ch.D (UWC)

Graduating from Stellenbosch  University, with a Bachelors in Education in 1997, Dr Pieterse worked as a teacher for a few years and then attended the  University of the Western Cape School of Dentistry graduating  in 2004. After earning his dental degree, he completed his community service in the Northwest Province in 2005. He worked at various dental practices until finally joining the Kromboom Dental Team in 2019.

Dr. Pieterse is a caring, dedicated, and ethical professional who truly gets to know his patients. He understands that each patient has different needs and expectations, and therefore feels that all treatment should be customized according to the person, not the tooth and provides expert dental care for children and adults if every age. Patients can expect a kind, enthusiastic professional with a genuine interest in his patients and guides them through a lifetime of dental care.

Dr. Pieterse excels in connecting with others and has the innate gift of making patients feel comfortable, respected and cared for.  His relaxed and calm demeanor helps put patients of all ages at ease and he  is well known for his kindness, caring, empathy, and the total commitment he brings to meeting every patient’s needs. Even the most apprehensive of patients are put at ease by Dr. Pieterse’s calming bedside manner and gentle approach.

He believes that behind every smile is a person and that a trusting doctor-patient relationship is essential in achieving treatment success. His positive outlook is a crucial part of the KDC  team that makes our patients’ experiences as comfortable and enjoyable as possible.

Dr Pieterse is a native Cape Townian. When he is not busy caring for his patients he enjoys exercising, fly fishing , reading and playing the piano.

Dr Mu’min Taliep B. Ch.D (UWC)

Dr. Mu’min Taliep is the newest addition to our growing team of dental experts. Dr Taliep received his B.Ch.D degree from the university of the Western Cape in 2011 followed by his community service year at Maitland Day hospital in 2012. He began his private practice career in 2013 and since then has dedicated his practice to holistic dental restoration.

He is competent is all aspects of general dentistry and this treatments range from simple fillings to wisdom teeth extractions. Dr Taliep also completed a digital dentistry course which involved digital printing of crowns in one visit. He goes to great lengths to help even the most nervous patients feel comfortable during their visit by listening to their concerns and allowing them to be an integral part of their own treatment plan.

Dr. Taliep takes a very conservative approach to oral health and does his best to save the patient’s teeth, rather than removing them, whenever he can. He has a special interest in Maxillo facial orthopeadic orthodontics, early intervention orthodontics, as well as non surgical TMJ therapy. 

Fervently committed to his chosen calling, Dr Taliep is training to become a Myofunctional Therapist. The screening and treating sleep-related breathing disorders has become the newest focus of integrative dental medicine and Dr Taliep wants to be on the forefront of this in SA. 

It is Dr Taliep’s vision to provide an integrative approach to dentistry where every patient is treated holistically. In the same breath, his aim is to provide quality dentistry with the latest technology and evidence based studies. 

Dr Taliep is the husband of one of our senior Oral Hygienists, Zainab and because they have similar treatment philosophies this dental duo is a good fit for KDC. 

Dr Farah Seedat B.Ch.D (UWC)

Dr Farah Seedat, originally from KZN, qualified in 2015 from the University of the Western Cape and went on to complete her community service for the Military (SANDF). During her undergraduate studies, she received numerous academic awards including the Golden Key society and the SADA medal for Oral Medicine and Periodontics.

Dr Seedat is passionate about Dentistry and constantly keeps up to date with the newest developments in Dentistry by attending courses and workshops including laser, advanced restorative and paediatric seminars, to name a few. She practices all fields of Dentistry, but has a special interest in Paediatrics and is proficient with sedation and theatre cases. She has experience in many fields of dentistry including laser dentistry, advanced restorations, endodontics, interceptive orthodontics, sedation dentistry and treatment in theatre (both adults and children).

Dr Seedat is also affiliated with the international association of paediatrics, the Paedodontic society of South Africa and previously with the South African Academy of Aesthetic Dentistry.

Her patient and gentle chairside demeanour is perfect for patients who are anxious about the dentist! When she isn’t busy at work, she’s a loving wife and mom to two little boys.

We continue to take emergency patients and some select essential visits. Your oral care is our number one priority and we can’t wait to see you. We are still somewhat limited in the appointments we can take and you may have to wait to be seen. Rest assured we will work hard to fit you into our schedule based on your level of need.

With lockdown level 3/4 in effect,  we have changed our operating hours and will be open weekdays between 9:00 and 17:00 and on Saturdays between 9:00 and 13:00
